Ändringar i miljökraven inom sjöfarten vid årsskiftet Traficom

To reduce air pollution, climate change and general health hazards caused by the emission of ships, several international and European regulations are about to become valid and/ or are being tightened. A key revision was the change from SOx Emission Control Area to Emission Control Area (ECA), which is defined as an ” area where the adoption of special mandatory measures for emissions from ships is required to prevent, reduce and control air pollution from NOx or SOx and particulate matter or all three types of emissions and their attendant adverse impact on human health and the environment”. IMO Tier III, Emission Control Area (ECA) and Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) regulations define the limits for all vessels sailing in international waters. The global response to the devastating effects of pollution and global warming on marine ecosystems is to adopt even tougher rules for emissions, as seen at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21).
